Evaluation of the WHO Community Engagement Research Initiative

The coronavirus disease (‎COVID-19)‎ pandemic has exposed inequities and service delivery gaps in national and global health systems. These weaknesses reveal the need to reimagine systemic approaches to community engagement, relationship development and trust building in health. The World Health Organization (‎WHO)‎ Regional Office for the Western Pacific led a multi-country Community Engagement Research Initiative to fill critical research gaps and accelerate action in mitigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable populations.

This report offers an evaluation of evaluative action-based research carried out by four country research teams in Cambodia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Malaysia.

Elles constituent une collection de messages pour la promotion des mesures barrières et de la vaccination équitable contre la COVID-19. Considerations for Integrating COVID-19 Vaccination into Immunization Programmes and Primary Health Care for 2022 and beyond

This document lays out key programmatic considerations essential for moving from mass campaigns for COVID-19 vaccination to integrating COVID-19 vaccination into immunization programmes, PHC and other relevant health services for 2022 and beyond.

The ultimate aim is to fully explore potential areas for integrating different components of immunization programmes, PHC and health systems. Given the evolving epidemiological nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is a living document and will be updated to reflect the changing context, including as policies for COVID-19 vaccinations over the longer term are formulated. Finally, the document is not intended to outline a prescriptive approach but rather to present considerations and options for countries to consider and apply based on their needs and the country context.

COTE D’IVOIRE: COVID-19 vaccine promotion materials

These materials originally produced in French, were developed by Breakthrough ACTION Cote d’Ivoire in conjunction with the ministry of Health and RCCE working group partners as part of a broader campaign to promote COVID-19 vaccination. While using the religious leaders, family, children, men and women pictures to deliver COVID-19 vaccination messages, we explored the theories of influence, social influence, reasoned action and planned behavior theory to address lack of knowledge, risk perception and practice.

The SBC materials include Spots, poster on the following topics:

        • All united, we will stop COVID-19
        • Half protected is not protected
        • Let’s vaccinate our children
        • Half-vaccinated is like half cut your hair
        • Full vaccinated is better protection

WHO SAGE Roadmap Priority-Use Groups for COVID-19 Vaccine

This revised Roadmap takes into account increasing vaccine availability, vaccine coverage rates, and the evolving epidemiological situation including COVID-19 variants of concern.

To assist countries in developing recommendations for optimized use of vaccines against COVID-19, priority-use groups for vaccination (both primary series and booster doses) are identified based on epidemiological scenarios, public health goals, and vaccine coverage scenarios.

High priority is: Elderly, health workers, immunocompromised. The next tier down, high priority, is adults with co-morbidities, pregnant persons, teachers and other essential workers, disadvantaged socioeconomic subpopulations at higher risk (could be migrants, etc).
