Why Vaccine Inequality is our Biggest COVID-19 Communication Challenge Yet

This paper explores the global south’s inequity of access to COVID-19 vaccines and related communication challenges. The paper also questions how we can split our focus to, on one hand, engage with communities to ensure they understand how vaccine prioritization will be made, to also then manage expectations of access, while still addressing the perception that the pandemic is over when vaccination begins.

Maternal, Newborn, and Reproductive Health and COVID-19: Adaptations, Successes, Challenges, and Next Steps. An Expert Consultation

This report presents key findings and recommendations from a series of four discussion-based expert consultation workshops. These consultations—organized by the READY initiative and the Inter Agency Working Group on Reproductive Health in crises (IAWG)—brought Maternal, Newborn, and Reproductive Health and infectious disease stakeholders together to review MNRH in the preparedness/outbreak response context and identify priorities for the ongoing pandemic.

This report compiles and shares participants’ experiences and lessons learned, and identifies challenges and gaps in implementing humanitarian MNRH services in COVID-19 across the world. The recommendations developed from these consultations are intended to support MNRH services and actors to improve access and quality of care to vulnerable populations in future waves of COVID-19 and in future outbreaks.

COVID-19 Risk Communication and Community Engagement Toolkit for Humanitarian Actors

The purpose of this toolkit is to offer non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other humanitarian response actors a suite of guidance and tools they can use to rapidly plan and integrate Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) into their COVID-19 response. Given the rapidly changing nature of the pandemic, these tools and guidelines will be updated as needed. This toolkit was developed by the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs and Save the Children through the READY initiative, which is funded by USAID’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA).
