The Guide de dialogue communautaire (Community Dialogue Guide) and its companion Boite á images (Images Box) are two innovative tools designed to enhance community engagement and foster COVID-19 vaccine acceptance. Developed by the Breakthrough ACTION in Guinea, these practical resources can be used to strengthen vaccination adherence. The Community Dialogue Guide is a comprehensive manual to plan and implement effective community dialogues by facilitating meaningful conversations about the COVID-19 vaccine. The guide is paired with the Image Box, originally developed by Breakthrough ACTION in Cameroon, which contains visual aids to complement discussions and convey crucial information to participants. Together, these tools empower communities to make informed decisions and contribute to the collective effort to overcome challenges posed by the pandemic. The tools can be adapted to other vaccines or health topics and are only available in French.
Nous sommes ravis de présenter deux outils conçus pour renforcer l’engagement communautaire et promouvoir l’acceptation du vaccin COVID-19 : le Guide de dialogue communautaire et pour l’accompagner, la Boite á images. Développés par le projet Breakthrough ACTION en Guinea, ces ressources sont des outils pratiques pour renforcer l’adhésion à la vaccination”. Le Guide du Dialogue Communautaire est un manuel complet qui permet de planifier et de mettre en œuvre des dialogues communautaires efficaces en facilitant des conversations constructives sur le vaccin COVID-19. Associée à cela, la Boite à Image, développé à l’origine par Breakthrough ACTION au Cameroun, contient des supports visuels pour compléter les discussions et transmettre des informations cruciales. Ensemble, ces outils donnent aux communautés les moyens de prendre des décisions éclairées et de contribuer à l’effort collectif pour surmonter les défis posés par la pandémie. Les outils sont adaptables à d’autres vaccins ou sujets de santé et ne sont disponibles qu’en français.

Since 2011, UNESCO has launched an international, regional and national intervention on Media and Information Literacy (MIL), recognizing the primary role of information and media in everyday lives. The intervention is meant to contribute to the development of media and information literacy skills and promote best practices to analyze information critically and to navigate through the overwhelming amount of news and information available.
Under this overarching framework and as part of UNESCO’s responses to the COVID-19 ‘infodemic’, UNESCO Abuja Office initiated a survey on Perception of COVID-19 Communication in West Africa (non-Sahel). The survey was developed to understand how people in some Western African countries obtain and use the Information on COVID-19 for informed decisions.
