Bhekisisa Webinar – When epidemics collide: TB, HIV and COVID-19

June 9 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm UTC+2

Bhekisisa Webinar - When epidemics collide: TB, HIV and COVID-19

What will happen to HIV and TB under COVID-19?

We’ve seen a dramatic drop in TB and HIV testing since the coronavirus outbreak started. Fewer people are getting diagnosed with HIV and TB and some have stopped collecting their treatment from clinics.

Where will it all end? And, could the COVID-19 outbreak be turned into an opportunity to better screen and test for HIV and TB?

In this hour and fifteen minute-long webinar Bhekisisa editor, Mia Malan, will be in conversation with two world-renowned scientists — Gavin Churchyard from The Aurum Institute and Francois Venter from the Reproductive Health and HIV Institute at Wits — to find answers and solutions. Also part of this discussion is the influential TB activist, Phumeza Tisile, who will share her experiences of what’s happening on the ground.

There will also be an opportunity for webinar participants to send in their questions to panelists.
